PERIOD 1 ENGLISH 

TOPIC- THE SENTENCE- SUBJECT AND PREDICATE

LO- Learners will be able to identify two parts of the sentence i.e. subject and predicate.

INSTRUCTION- Read the explanation carefully and watch the video on subject and predicate before doing your work in English Language notebook.

20.05.2020         THE SENTENCE- SUBJECT AND PREDICATE
   
               A sentence can be divided into two parts:
               subject and predicate.               


         1.   SUBJECT
  •     The subject is who /what performs the main action in a sentence.
  •     The subject of the sentence is always a naming word(noun) or a pronoun.   
         2.  PREDICATE
  •     The predicate is what is said or done to or by the subject.
  •      The second part of the sentence or predicate has a verb in it. It tells us about the subject.
              EXAMPLES   
           i) Vikky is swimming in the pool     
               Subject - Vikky
               Predicate - is swimming in the pool


          ii) We are going for a picnic.
              Subject - We
              Predicate - are going for a picnic

20.05.2020      FUNCTIONS OF DIFFERENT PARTS OF A PLANT

     PERIOD 6 EVS

               1)    ROOT-  hold the plant firmly to the ground and take in water and                          minerals from the ground.


               2)    STEM - The stem carries water and mineral salts from the roots to                          the rest of the plant.
                      The stem carries food made by leaves to the rest of the plant.


               3)    LEAVES - of a plant is called its kitchen or food factory. Leaves                              make food for the plant.


               4)    FLOWERS - primary purpose of a flower is reproduction.


               5)    FRUITS - store extra food made by the leaves and protect seeds                              inside them.


               6)    SEED - The main function of a seed is to give rise to  new plant.
