Answer the following questions.

Q 1. Where can plants grow?

Ans 1. Plants can grow on land, in water, in very hot deserts, in freezing cold and on top of very high mountains.

Q 2. Why does the alpine poppy grow close to ground?

Ans 2. The alpine poppy grows close to ground so that it is protected from the winds.

Q 3. What are two main parts of the plant?

Ans 3. The two main parts of the plant are:
  1. Root System - It grows under the ground.
  2. Shoot System - It grows above the ground.
Q 4. What are the two different kinds of roots?

Ans 4. Roots are of two types:
  1. Tap Root - A tap root has a long main root at the end of the stem and many small side roots growing from the main root.
  2. Fibrous Root - When a number of roots grow from the end of the stem, they are called fibrous roots.
