PERIOD 1 ENGLISH LANGUAGE
LO- Learners will be able to revise Noun and change the noun numbers.
INSTRUCTIONS- Children please take out your English language notebook and do the following work neatly.

13.05.2020                 NOUN - SINGULAR / PLURAL

*A noun standing for one person, animal, place or thing is said to be in the singular number.

*A noun standing for more than one person,animal, place or thing is said to be in the plural number.

RULE 1- In most cases we add - s to the singular form to make plurals. e.g.
1) goat - goats
2) girl - girls
3) ear - ears

RULE 2- Nouns ending in hissing sound, i.e. nouns ending in -s, -ss, - ch, -sh and x, we add -es to the singular form e.g.

1) match - matches
2) fox - foxes
3) bush- bushes

4) class - classes
5) gas - gases

RULE 3 - Nouns ending in -o, if they have consonant before them generally, we add -es to the singular form e.g.

1) volcano - volcanoes
2)  mosquito - mosquitoes
3) tomatoes - tomatoes
555555RULE 4 - Nouns ending in -f and - fe form their plurals by changing the -f and -fe into -ves

2) wolf - wolves
3) leaf - leaves
