Q 5) Name any three functions of root.
   A)   The following are the functions of roots-
    i) They hold the plant firmly to the ground.
    ii) The take in water and mineral salts from the ground.
    iii)  In some plants they store extra food.
Q 6) What are the parts of a shoot system?
A) The  shoot system consist of the stem,leaves.branches.buds,fruits,flowers and seeds.


Q 7) What is photosynthesis? What does a plant need for it? A) The process by which the leaves prepare food for the plant in the presence of sunlight is called photosynthesis.A plant requires water, minerals, and carbon dioxide for photosynthesis. The roots absorb water and mineral salts from the soil, and the leaves take in carbon dioxide from the air through the stomata. Leaves also contain a green substance called chlorophyll, which uses             sunlight to convert the water, minerals and carbon dioxide into a kind of starchy and sugary food.
