RULE 5 - If a noun ends with a -y and the -y has a consonant before it, its plural is formed by changing the -y an into -ies1) army - armies2) country - countries3) reply - replies

RULE 6 - If a noun ends with a -y and the -y has a vowel before it, its plural is formed by writing -s after the -y.
1) monkey - monkeys2) valley - valleys3) ray - rays

RULE 7 - A few Nouns form their plurals by a change of the inside vowel as:
1) tooth - teeth
2) mouse - mice
3) foot - feet

RULE 8 - There are certain exceptions to the above rules. The exceptions are as under:
* Some Nouns that end in -o from their plural by just adding -s.1) bamboo - bamboos2) piano -pianos3) photo - photos
* Some words that end in -f form their plural by again adding -s to the singular,
1) dwarf - dwarfs2) roof - roofs3) gulf - gulfs
